Abstract
A systematic review study was conducted to understand the research trends on the preparations for their old age among the baby boom generation in Korea. Using 4 databases (KCI, RISS, KISS, e-Article), 2,231 papers published in domestic journals by April 30, 2021 were found with search terms such as baby boom and old age preparation. Documents not related to the old age preparation of the baby boom generation were excluded through the five stages, and the final 63 documents were selected and analyzed. As a result of the study, first, the old age preparation scale was classified into 10 groups, and was measured by 27 different methods. To measure the old age preparation scale, economic(financial) preparation and the likert scale method was the most. Second, overall, baby-boomers who were female than male, had higher educational level, home-ownership, smaller number of children or household members, higher income, and higher subjective health status showed the higher level of preparation for their old age. Third, in many studies, preparation for old age had a significant effect on psychological and emotional outcome variables such as successful aging and life satisfaction, and the better preparation for old age, the higher the intention to participate in social activities. Based on the study results, suggestions for follow-up studies and practical and policy implications of social welfare were presented.
